The IP Casino Resort & Spa originally started life as the Imperial palace hotel and Casino, situated in Bay View Avenue in Biloxi. The Ralph and Betty Engelstad trust announced the sale of the property to Harrah’s entertainment a day before Hurricane Katrina hit. After the destruction caused by hurricane Katrina, the future IP Casino Resort & Spa venue served as a make shift headquarter for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, amongst other relief organisations. The IP Casino was the first Casino to reopen after Hurricane Katrina, officially re opening its doors on December 22, 2005.
Between 2005 and 2008, the venue received a variety of renovations to increase its gaming space and its entertainment offerings to players and guests. The venue received the American Automobile Association’s Four Diamond award in 2008 and 2009. The venue’s signature fine dining restaurant, Thirty two, is the only restaurant in Biloxi to receive this prestigious award two years running. The IP Casino Resort & Spa was finally purchased by Boyd Gaming in 2011.
The IP Casino Resort & Spa also boasts the second tallest building in Mississippi with the IP Hotel tower rising up 225 feet. The hotel’s 1088 rooms are spread across 32 floors. Check in time runs between 4pm and midnight, with checkout time being 11 AM. When guests check in they will be required to present a government issued photo ID as well as make a credit card deposit. Guests need to be at least 21 years of age to be able to check in alone. Children 17 years and younger may stay free as long as they use existing bedding in the rooms. Service dogs are allowed but no pets may be kept in the guests rooms. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in all public areas and rooms. The hotel also offers free valet parking. Breakfast is available for a small fee; otherwise guests can make use of one of the 8 restaurants on the premises. There is also a coffee shop and room service available during select hours.

There are also meeting rooms and conference centres for corporate events and wedding receptions.
